Conference Weekend

Hey everyone!  So not too much happened since last P-Day… We went hiking and overlooked the other half of our mission! There is a huge mountain range, and there are 10ish Zones in our mission, and half are on one side, and we are on the other, with two at the base of the mountain. It was fun to talk and hike! I did miss listening to music while hiking a little bit!  We have been working nice and hard! We have Hermana Ana, who is getting very close to being ready for Baptism! We are building her testimony, and she is so so wonderful! Shandu is also really ready to be baptized! We have permission from his parents, and we still have more to teach! Edu and his family are so wonderful, and Edu is ready, and his parents need just a little bit more time! But all of these people are our baptisms for the 14 of October if everything works out perfect! Conference was so wonderful! I got to watch nearly all of it in English! The people there did not want us to d...

Hello!

This week was just dandy!! We found a lot more investigators this week! Especially since we only had 2 last week... but 11 is a much better number. We have a lot of new people, but not a lot that want to progress. One of our investigators is Ana, whose real name is Gabriella. (I only sing high school musical sometimes in her house under my breath!) But she is fantastic! She is a reference from Mama Luz, who owns our house we live in. Mama Luz is not a member, but helps teach our lessons! Ana is very interested in all of what we have to say, and really wants to be baptized!  We have 3 Teenagers who I feel are going to be baptized! One is a brother of an Inactive member, and he loves church on Sunday! Edu! Funny little 11 year old kid! The other two are brothers, Marcos and Shandu! Shandu really wants to be baptized, and Marcos only half listens, but with time, he will be great!  We may find 11 people in a week, but a lot of them don't stick with us. They h...

Tocosh, Never Again

Hello hello! Well, we learned a lot this week! We have a goal from our Mission President that we need to have 1 Inspired Act, 2 Visits with Members, 3 Visits with Inactive Members, 4 Acts of service, 10 people to contact, and 100% References of people! It is pretty awesome, and definitely impossible in my area! But it keeps us going, and we always have something to do!  This week was really slow, and we didn't have a lot of people we taught this week. We have a lot of contacts and they say they are interested, but are always busy at their house! Always cleaning, cooking, eating, or leaving to buy something! So we are going to work harder next week, and hopefully everything is all good! Some crazy stuff happened!  First off, the dogs here... If you don´t get a letter next week, you will know why! They want blood! Haha! But I am now a little bit more used to scaring them off! So that won't be as bad of a problem (I hope…)! Second is Tocosh! We were with ...

Claro P!

Hola Todos! This week was great! There are many, many experiences on a mission, and I would say especially in Peru! The time has gone by super quick!! Especially when you look backwards! Forwards, it’s a little longer... But I have had a month in Peru nearly! The MTC I thought went by really fast... that was a lie... That was eternity! Haha! Spanish is going great! Elder Mendez is beginning to correct me more, which sounds like I am doing worse, but I was so bad before, and now that I am doing alright, he is starting to correct! Because before he didn´t even want to try! I can actually make up sentences now, and make my way through conversations! Before It was kind of the same response every time... But I am catching on to some of the little phrases here! In Peru, everyone says Pues at the end of everything, especially when they are joking around! It has evolved to just saying Pe. So they are just trying to be Canadian! They also don´t say their s´s sometimes! So it sounds lik...

Things that are different in Peru...

This week was great! My Spanish is getting much much better, the only problem is, now I am starting to realize my mistakes! The verb tenses especially! But people understand that I have only had 3 weeks of real Spanish! (I don´t count the MTC as learning Spanish anymore, since I technically have to re-learn everything! Haha!) The food here really is great! I sadly had my first day not eating a potato... August 31st 2017... Sad day. I don´t exactly know how, but they can slip potatoes into every lunch! I don´t know how they do it! I have had rice every day without fail! So that’s good! They use either no salt here, or over-salt their meat, and there is no in between! But it is so yummy! Nearly every morning we have rolls with something inside! Always followed with a cup of quaker (pronounced: guakay)! There is something different every morning! Same concept, but different fillers for my rolls! Lots of people have cell phones! We have phones! We use them a ton! In my area there ...
